Don Downey is a documentary filmmaker based in Boulder, Colorado. His films are unflinching portrayals of life as we know it, or perhaps as we imagine we know it. They are suggestions of reality and identity that finely capture the essence of their subjects. They sense the waving line between what we know about ourselves and what our lives reveal about us.

Don has produced a series of strong public issue, documentary, corporate & higher education films. Downey, a former NBC-TV affiliate reporter, is producer, director and writer on all projects.

Don's work reveals skilled interviewing, an informal & efficient style, creative risk taking, imaginative writing & sharp editing. Sovereign Pictures' films have depicted the Papacy & the Supreme Court, the Vietnam War & global warming, garnering national awards for broadcasts on PBS, HDTV, NBC, & ESPN.
